Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assure compliance to plant, regulatory and quality assurance requirements in raw material inspection, in-process quality control, labeling, finished product evaluation, GMP, housekeeping, pest control and other related food safety and quality matters
- Maintain integrity and quality standards of product through effective monitoring of manufacturing processes, conditions within the plants and through physical, chemical, and microbial analysis
- Understand Laboratory responsibility including microbiological issues within Holten Meat, its suppliers, and customers. Manage and monitor laboratory policies, procedures, lab safety, lab quality assurance and lab sampler
- Understand, write, and monitor USDA, HACCP and SSOP procedures
- Maintain proactive working knowledge of USDA regulations
- Develop and maintain effective training program within QC and as required for plant personnel
- Develop, manage, and monitor statistical analysis programs utilizing program of SPC and SQM
- Maintain the appropriate computer skills and programs necessary to achieve this requirement
- Assist in investigating and resolving customer complaints
- Develop and manage customer product specifications to meet customer requirements
- Maintain specification characteristics
- Proofread packaging
- Manage and monitor compliance with Food Security Policy
- Supervise and maintain QC department staffing and training
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of QC experience in a food manufacturing preferably USDA environment. Will consider other production or manufacturing backgrounds with previous supervisory experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal and technical skills.
- SQF Practitioner or GFSI experience – or willing to obtain.
- Demonstrated computer knowledge required.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds.
- Good sense of taste smell and touch.
- Basic math and reading skills required.
- Knowledge of the U.S.D.A. approved Net Weight Program preferred.
- Follow all safety procedures
- Must have overall knowledge of recipes and finish product specifications
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Willing to work in a well-lit and ventilated office, freezer, and cooler environments for short periods of time, and refrigerated production environment for extended periods as necessary. Moderate noise level. Temperature range of 0-75-degree Fahrenheit.
