Job Description
HireLevel is seeking an Accountant for an established Marion, IL employer. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to grow their accounting career, though previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is preferred.
Our client, Horizon Publications, is a well-established media and publishing company headquartered in Southern Illinois, providing local news, advertising, printing, and digital media services across multiple markets. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced office environment, works well as part of a team, and is eager to support accounting operations for more than 40 remote office locations throughout the United States.

Shift: Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm
Compensation: $25-$30 per hour based on experience

Responsibilities of the Accountant
- Prepare monthly financial statements - reconcile cash, accounts receivable, inventory, etc. and write journal entries to record financial transactions in the general ledger.
- Perform various reconciliation/balancing functions to track receivables and payables among various related companies as well as within each company.
- Knowledge of health insurance and payroll desired.
- Additional assignments as needed.
Requirements of the Accountant:
- Ability to prioritize duties and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
- Eye for detail. Accuracy is imperative.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Need to be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Need a good overall understanding of accounting concepts
