Job Description

HireLevel is seeking a detail-oriented and critical thinker for an Auditor for an established CPA firm located in Cape Girardeau, MO. The Auditor complies with all IRS and state filing requirements and needs to have previous public accounting experience. This person will manage a small team and oversee audits. 


The CPA firm was founded in 1986 and since it’s inception, the firm has experienced tremendous growth. They perform a wide range of accounting, payroll, bookkeeping, management advisory services, fraud investigation work, and taxation services. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with a comprehensive benefit package offered.


Benefits:

  • Salary: $55,000-$65,000

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Performs audits and oversees a team of auditors
  • Prepare lower tax returns for:
    • Personal tax returns
    • Corporate and partnership tax returns
    • Farms
    • Small business
  • Assists in completing complex tax returns of individuals and business
  • Ability to check financial statements and make adjustments to financials statements in order to be able to prepare the tax returns
  • Work through and reply to IRS notices and state notices
  • Research various tax topics


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of public accounting experience required
  • Experience with tax processes 
  • Financial or accounting experience a plus
  • Knowledge of various computer programs (Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Internet, accounting software, and database systems)
  • Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must have reliable transportation and applicable insurance
