Job Description
HireLevel is seeking a General Manager in Maryland Heights, MO area! We're searching for an experienced leader from the lumber or building industry who will oversee all operations of an amazing family-owned building products company. The perfect candidate has extensive understanding of the building and construction industry, is a natural and skilled leader, has proven excellent communication abilities, and can handle working in a fast-paced environment. While the General Manager will report to the president of the company, they also must be able to relate to anyone who walks in the door.
Serving the building and construction industry since 1990, our client strives to meet their customers' needs by providing a large assortment of specialty building materials in addition to many commodity items. They have built their business on providing premium building materials and excellent service to their customers in and around the St. Louis area!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all operations of the business including sales, inventory supply, yard and drivers, equipment maintenance, and all employee personnel on the team
- Manage and improve operational processes and procedures with the objective of providing maximum profit and return while maintaining maximum emphasis on customer satisfaction and return business
- Work with the Sales and Operations Manager to establish sales and operating budgets and work with Service/Sales Group to continue to focus their efforts on achieving budgeted sales and gross profit objectives
- Establish action plans to ensure operations are running smoothly
- Work directly with the buying team in North Little Rock
- Effectively lead meetings, set performance expectations and hold employees accountable
- Communicate with customers to develop sales opportunities and/or solve problems
- Consistently identify and build areas of growth
Competencies and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proven experience as a leader in the lumber, construction or building industry
- Work Hours vary between 7am-5pm; 8–10-hour shift
- Possess an ability for technical applications, mechanical systems and problem solving
- Experience conducting meetings with exempt and non-exempt personnel coupled with hiring, training, developing and conducting annual performance reviews
- Computer efficient
- Must enjoy a high level of activity in a hands-on environment where there is an emphasis on meeting deadlines and providing unmatched customer service
- Successful completion of references, employment verifications, background check; must possess a Valid Driver’s License and good driving record
