This position is responsible for performing duties required to ensure successful completion of the shift s work schedule in terms of quality, quantity and productivity. Make or oversee the making of setups and programs required to perform scheduled machine operation making sure established procedures are followed. Work from daily production schedule, dispatch plan, shop orders and verbal instructions. Assist in applicant interviews, training, making work assignments and general department administration.

Additional Responsibilities of Lead Machinist:
Print and review daily dispatch plan and assign jobs to employees based on production needs, personnel capability and the availability of machines, material and parts; write and update setup sheets and machine programs; perform setups when necessary.
Work from and ensure all diagrams, specifications, NC and CNC programs, tooling and supplies needed for jobs are available, coordinating with other departments as needed.
Order necessary tooling and supplies needed for jobs by reviewing perishable supplies, supply list and daily dispatch plans and obtain approval from supervisor.
Investigate and troubleshoot problems presented by employees and recommend appropriate corrective action considering time, monetary and production constraints; inform supervisors of actions taken or contact maintenance if required.
Complete paperwork and computer entry to document; track and affect work status, such as printing reports, tracking work orders, entering production time, writing and updating setup sheets, checking order quantity, etc.
Communicate with and provide input to various company personnel, such as the supervisor, regarding production needs, new projects, and design changes.
Perform visual and quantity check on orders leaving the department to ensure that all orders meet specifications.
Train new machine operators on machines, machine tools, drawings and prints, and precision measuring instruments.
Maintain a clean, orderly work area by performing or directing others to perform necessary cleaning functions.
Perform duties of absent workers to maintain work schedule.
Oversees proper labeling and condition of hazardous waste containers.
Oversees and inspects hazardous waste storage area.
Job Requirements of Lead Machinist:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Ability to use and read precision measuring instruments
Demonstrate ability to understand and organize technical data for communications and analysis.
Clarity of vision at a distance of 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships along with adjusting the eye to bring objects into sharp focus for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Must meet client background and drug test requirements.
Must have general understanding of numbers
Annual training in hazardous waste materials/transport will be performed in accordance with DOT, RCRA, EPA and OSHA.
Strong customer service and problem solving skills.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, changing environment with challenging customer demands.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability and desire to work both independently and in a team environment to meet the goals and objections of the company.
Compensation of Lead Machinist:
$16- $21 hr
