This position would be maintaining administrative activities within a machine shop environment. Candidates would be expected to have great customer service skills, the ability to quote materials for up-front job costs, work with vendors & production teams and some blueprint and drafting work.
Responsibilities of Mechanical Draftsman:
- Use Computer-Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to create and complete a set of fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Utilizes Word, Excel, and nesting software in the creation and use of various electronic forms.
- Purchasing material for jobs.
- Work closely with production planning to optimize design for cost and fabrication efficiency.
- Work on multiple and diverse projects simultaneously.
- Work, coordinate and interact with vendors for the fabrication of parts.
- Participate in shop Continuous Improvement training, activities, & projects.
- Assist other functions as needed, such as purchasing, quality, customer service, and sales.
- Working with and maintaining customer relationships.
Requirements for Mechanical Draftsman:
- Associate's degree, preferably in drafting/design.
- 3 years of CAD experience
- Knowledge of mechanical drawing and design principles.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, shop floor documentation, customer specifications/electrical diagrams, and instructions provided by Engineers/Managers.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Positive, detail-oriented personality.
- Ability to read information and instructions and interpret and analyze contents from materials such as technical reports.
- Ability or knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Familiar with machines, tools, equipment operation & capability.
