Job Description
HireLevel is looking for a Press Operator in Smyrna, TN!
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Smyrna, TN
Compensation: $18.75 - $20.75 / hour
Shift: Monday - Thursday 5:00PM - 3:30AM
Responsibilities of a Press Operator:
- Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
- Check and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirement and ensure compliance with customer and production requirements
- Setup the press including dies and alignment of part and scrap chutes/conveyors
- Setup the press/levelers/flattener to the proper program or required parameters
- Thread coil thru level/flattener and feed the unit
- Monitor condition of blanks to ensure compliance with customer requirements and production instructions
- Adjust press setup as needed for quality
- Setup skids on the parts conveyors to ensure no disruption of production
- Remove scrap from press and empty hoppers as necessary
- Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or complete preventative maintenance as necessary
- Assist press packager as needed
- Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
- Clean and maintain housekeeping of press area
Requirements of Press Operator:
- Must have the knowledge of Statistical Process Control - X bar and R charts, individual moving range charts, basic distribution analysis
- Must have the knowledge of raw materials, blanking processes, and quality standards
- Must have the knowledge of steel press machines including their major components and limitations
- Must have the knowledge and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
- Must be able to accurately use tape measures, Rockwell tester, digital calipers, digital/dial indicators, height gauge, computer, part specific gauges and micrometers
- Must be able to read and understand material tags and production instructions
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Must be able to see details at close range
- Must be able to meet background and drug screen requirements
- Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent
Physical Requitements of Press Operator :
- Ability to repetitively reach and grasp
- Ability to routinely climb stairs, ladders, or platforms
- Ability to routinely twist, bend, stoop, and squat
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to frequently life and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally life and/or move up to 75 pounds
