HireLevel is hiring a Sales & Use Tax Accounting Associate for an equipment leasing company that provides companies with IT, medical Technology, and telecommunications equipment. The Sales & Use Tax Accounting Associate will help run financial reporting and ensure that funds are performing accurately. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate filing of sales and property tax for ten associated entities, as well as moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of sales and property tax records.

Position: Direct hire with full benefit package offered

Compensation: Based on Experience

Location: Clearwater, FL

Hours: 8: 30 a.M.- 5: 00 p.M.; Monday-Friday

Responsibilities of the Sales & Use Tax Accounting Associate:
  • Prepare sales and property tax returns on a timely and accurate basis
  • Ensure all tax payments are made in a timely fashion
  • Coordinate with the Lease Relations group to answer questions about property tax bills/issues
  • Registration of funds with states for sales and property tax reporting purposes
  • Periodically reviews monthly tax work sheets that are prepared by fund accounting and reconciles these to the tax calculations
  • Performs research of various federal and state tax issues to provide supported and sound conclusions to tax issues
  • Responsible for maintenance of tax files
  • Complies with all internal controls Stays informed with tax industry updates and revisions
  • Works on special projects (as needed)

Requirements of the Sales & Use Tax Accounting Associate:
  • B.S. Degree in Accounting with taxation courses or equivalent experience is required
  • 2-3 years experience in sales and property tax compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Great Plains software package, or experience with a comparable accounting software package
  • Ability to lead others, multi-task, be flexible and set priorities to meet strict deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word
  • Other helpful experience includes exposure to fund accounting
  • General knowledge of securities/leasing is helpful Basic business and accounting knowledge
  • Ability to work overtime during certain times of the year as needed
  • Must meet client background requirements
