Job Description
HireLevel is seeking Structural Steel Fit Welders for our client in Granite City, IL. Our client is a leader in the industry of steel fabrication with a management team with over 30 years experience.
Job Title: Structural Steel Fit Welder
Job Type: Full-time, Contract to Hire
Location: Granite City, IL
Hours: Monday - Friday | 6:00 am-2:30 pm (with some overtime)
Rate of Pay: Up to $25/hour, depending on testing
Similar Positions: Welder, Fabricator, Fitter, Millwright
Responsibilities of Structural Steel Fit Welder:
- Accurately layout & fit up of steel per shop drawings
- Properly set up welding machine/wire feeder for welding and adjust setting as required
- Verify and ensure fit up complies with plans and codes, AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8
- Ability to read and properly interpret shop drawings
- Perform clean tack welds with no inclusions, undercut, porosity
- Cleaning of all slag/splatter from welds and surrounding area
- Ensure equipment used is properly maintained/stored during & after use
Requirements for Structural Steel Fit Welder:
- Must have prior background using Fluxcore 1/16th with CO2
- 1 year experience in welding
- Must be able to produce clean sound welds with minimal cleanup in a timely manner
- Must be able to work well with others
- Must be a self-starter
- Must be safety-orientated
